I went to Senegal May 2015. Originally my family just went for vacation and we brought a few things to donate just because we’re a family that always donate. We usually give to the church, but this time we decided to donate in Senegal because we would see where our stuff was actually going.
My favorite moment in Senegal was going in the villages and really seeing the living conditions of people and how they were so happy to see us. They would sing our praises while we were giving them stuff and we passed stuff out based on their age, size and gender. Sometimes they would trade amongst themselves so it was a humbling experience. They even invited us into their homes and fed us and let us sit with them as if we were a part of the family. They were very welcoming even though they didn’t have much to offer.
I have a doll I bought out there, I’ll get it and take the picture with it!
